Hunger Heroes Save the Day

In July, there was a crisis at the food pantry - electrical problems caused one of our freezers to go out.

Imagine a time when there was a big storm and you lost power at your home for a day - you had to throw out everything in your freezer and go out to get more. Now, imagine a dead freezer full of meats that were supposed to go out to hungry people in North Lawndale.

Knowing the urgency of this situation, we quickly put out a request to our supporters on July 27 asking for their help in collecting funds for an electrician to fix our problem.

By July 30, we had already exceeded our goal of $5,000 - and today, we have raised over $9,000 to fix our electricity and support food security in North Lawndale. We are bowled over by the generosity and speed of you, our community, and so grateful that we can rely on you to help us in our time of need.

Everything that Harmony Community Cares does - be it the food pantry, the tutoring program, or the community arts classes - would not be possible without the incredible and unwavering support of you. From everyone at the food pantry and Harmony Community Cares, thank you.
